Installation of Universal Avionics’ UniLink® Communications Management Unit on a Dassault Falcon 900

Chicago Jet Group (CJG) accomplished a significant innovative milestone with the award of a Supplemental Type Certification (STC) for the Falcon 900. This STC is the first certified retrofit
installation for Air Traffic Services FANS 1A+ / CPDLC Data Link communication system over Iridium in a Dassault Mystere Falcon 900. The installed system also provides the foundation to meet ADS-B and upcoming Link 2000+ Programme mandates.

Chicago Jet Group integrated Universal Avionics Systems Corporation (UASC) UniLink® Model UL- 801 Communications Management Unit (CMU) with VHF VDL Mode 2 receiver, interfaced with the option for a Single Stand-Alone, Dual or Triple Universal WAAS/SBAS Flight Management Systems (FMS) and Universal Model 120A Cockpit Voice Recorder enabling required FANS data link message recording.
International Communications Group (ICG) NxtLink ICS-220A Iridium Satcom provides Iridium AOC and ATC data link messaging and communications.

The certification of this integrated retrofit system in the Falcon 900 entitles international operators to utilize the significant time and cost advantages offered by flying FANS preferred airspace. This certified FANS solution is the only cost effective solution specifically developed to mitigate installation cost and downtime by retaining the original equipment flight displays and upgrading the FMS and CMU equipment.

The Dassault Falcon 900 is the second airframe to receive Chicago Jet Group FANS retrofit certification, following the first ever FANS retrofit STC, achieved last year on the Falcon 50. Several additional airframes are currently in process at Chicago Jet Group for FANS retrofit installation and certification. The list of aircraft currently in process for FANS certification include the Gulfstream Astra/G100, Gulfstream GII/III, Gulfstream IV,IVSP,V, Falcon 2000, Boeing 767-200, Challenger 600, 601.

Chicago Jet Group completes the turn-key FANS/CPDLC suite of services by offering FANS pilot training and FANS End to End operational performance testing through their KOBEV International Inc. affiliate.

Chicago Jet Group operates a Class 4 Part 145 Repair Station, focused on the installation and certification of leading edge avionics for Part 25 aircraft, in addition to providing airframe and engine maintenance.
